OBESITY EPIDEMIC

In the last 20 years adult obesity has doubled and childhood obesity tripled!. In 2007 there were over 72million obese Americans which has a direct relationship to 11 chronic conditions, including Diabetes 2 with an annual economic cost of $174billion. Every year we have $8billion rise in diabetes medical care costs.

One example where we can make a difference to ourselves and cost of healthcare-Americans are swallowing 22 teaspoons of sugar each day-much of this coming from soft drinks and candy 355 calories Recommended for women no more than 6 teaspoons a day (100 calories) and men 9 teaspoons a day (150 calories).

We have an important personal responsibility.!
